Question 1

Why is renewal higher than the first year?

Accepted Answer

The first year is marketing and the renewal is the business. BeforeYouRegister flags any ending where renewal passes twice the first-year price.

Question 2

What is the $0.18 ICANN fee?

Accepted Answer

ICANN charges $0.18 per year on generic endings like .com. Every price on this site already includes it.

Question 3

Is WHOIS privacy really free?

Accepted Answer

Porkbun, NameSilo, Spaceship and Cloudflare include it free. The table notes where privacy is paid.

Question 4

How fresh are these prices?

Accepted Answer

A worker checks registrar catalogs daily at 03:00 UTC and the page caches for one hour.
